Full-Time Forensic Technician
Complete forensic examinations of crime vehicles.
Forensically examine firearms, weapons, drugs and other exhibits submitted by investigators.
Conduct fingerprint comparisons.
Complete reports and give expert testimony in court when required.
High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- 1 year certificate or diploma in a related field of knowledge (such as Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police/Justice Studies, Forensic Sciences) with a minimum of 5 years of related forensic experience, 3 of which must have been directly performing forensic work for a law enforcement agency OR an undergraduate degree in science (e.g. biology, chemistry, forensics) and a minimum of 1 year directly performing forensic work for a law enforcement agency..
- Successful completion of the Canadian Police College Forensic Identification Course (FIC) or a similar course from a law enforcement agency.
- Must be eligible for designation as a Community Peace Officer Level 2.
- Excellent communicator with relationship building skills that helps to coach and develop. Able to anticipate challenges and prioritize urgent issues, optimizing time and resources while making effective decisions and providing excellent customer service.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
An enhanced security clearance will be conducted and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
